Open SourceClaude API Showcase App in FlutterNigeria

Parley is our open-source Flutter app that shows the Claude API working inside a real product. Every feature is a working screen: streaming chat with visible reasoning and live web answers with sources, questions about photos and PDFs with page-level citations, receipts read into spending categories, structured output, and an agent that manages a task list with tools that run on the phone.

01 The brief
Most AI examples are snippets that stop at one API call. We wanted a complete mobile app a team could read and reuse: clean architecture that stays clean, history that never leaves the phone, and a backend that treats an open-source client as untrusted, so nobody can run up the bill or rewrite the prompts.
02 Our approach
Flutter with Riverpod for state and GoRouter for navigation, organised as domain, data and presentation per feature; a test fails the build if a layer reaches where it should not.
Seven screens, Chat, Look, Read, Tasks, Rewrite, Receipts and Extract, cover streaming with adaptive thinking, the web search tool with citations, vision, PDF documents with citations, structured JSON output and a tool-using agent loop.
A Supabase edge function rebuilds every request from an allowlist, keeps system prompts and tool definitions on the server, and streams Claude's answer back to the phone.
Requests, tokens and web searches are limited per user per day in one atomic database call, and abandoned streams are still counted.
03 Outcomes
Concrete results, not promises. Each line is something that exists and works today.
