Golf clubs run on community. Tee time updates, tournament announcements, social events, committee decisions. All of it depends on members staying informed and connected. But for this club, communication was scattered across email threads, notice boards, and group chats that not everyone checked.
They needed a single platform where every member could get updates, join conversations, and stay connected to the club's life. Not a generic social app. A purpose-built platform designed for how golf clubs actually work.
The Challenge
The club had 225+ active members and a communication problem that was hurting engagement:
- Important announcements buried in email inboxes that members ignored
- Event details shared through group chats that not everyone was part of
- Committee updates stuck on notice boards that only a fraction of members saw
- No centralized place for members to discuss club matters or coordinate activities
- New members had no easy way to integrate into the club community
The solution had to be simple enough that every member would use it, from tech-savvy younger members to retirees who primarily use their phones for calls and messages.
What We Built
Real-Time Communication Channels
We built organized channels for different types of club communication: announcements, tournament updates, social events, committee discussions, and general conversation. Members see what is relevant to them without wading through noise. Important updates are impossible to miss.
Event Management
Club events and tournaments are managed directly in the platform. Members can see upcoming events, confirm attendance, and get reminders. Organizers can track RSVPs and send updates to attendees, all in one place.
Member Directory
A searchable member directory helps newer members connect with the community. Profiles show handicaps, preferred playing times, and committee memberships, making it easy to find a playing partner or the right person to contact about club matters.
Push Notifications
Critical updates, like weather-related cancellations or last-minute tee time changes, reach every member instantly through push notifications. No more hoping people check their email before driving to the club.
The Technical Approach
The app was built in Flutter for cross-platform deployment on iOS and Android. Stream Chat handles the real-time messaging layer, ensuring messages deliver instantly and conversations stay synchronized across devices. Firebase provides authentication and push notifications.
The architecture was designed to handle 225+ concurrent users without performance issues, with room to scale as the club grows.
The Results
- Member engagement tripled compared to the previous email and notice board system
- 225+ members actively using the platform for daily club communication
- Event attendance improved with centralized RSVP tracking and reminders
- New members integrating into the community faster through the member directory
- Committee communication streamlined with dedicated channels
Why It Matters
Community platforms are not about technology. They are about connection. The reason CommuNiTee works is not the code behind it. It is the fact that 225+ people now have a place that feels like their club's digital home. Announcements reach everyone. Conversations happen in the open. Events fill up faster. And the club community is stronger because of it.
If your organization or community needs a platform that brings members together, we would love to hear about your vision.
